The trend of the development of instruments, including the temperature measuring equipment, is well-performed, digitized, integrated, intelligent and networked. The design of the temperature control system is to meet the demand of the market, which asks for low cost, stable performance, remote monitor capability. The product has a broader prospect on the market. In this paper, the development of an intelligent control system is presented. First, a simple summary of the embedded system, present situation of intelligent control system and the development tendency are given, and then detailed information about the system design, principle of different modules, realization of the software and hardware are provided respectively.Cost control, modularization, and expansion possible of the intelligent temperature control system are taken into consideration for the design. Through using design technique the goal is fulfilled in both hardware and software. In the hardware aspect, the STC12C5410AD MCU with low capability/price ratio, LM358 amplifier of low power consumption, LED monitor, and pressure sensor with higher resistance are used to build the system, and a low linear voltage regulator is chosen to lower the voltage supply of the whole system. As for the software design, preparing for update or the expansion later, the design has used the sub- sequencing functions, according to the module's realization request. Enhancing the component's life simultaneously in the design, the intermittence-like working pattern is used. In the non-sampling period the monitor, the manostat is only at the active condition, so it can reduce the time of A/D transforms. In order to reduce the cost of whole system, low cost devices are selected and the system structure is simplified in the design while performance requirements are met. By using the multi-spot calibration technology and the linear interpolation method, requirement of linearity of sensors is reduced and selection range of the sensors is expanded, so that versatility, extendibility and market competitive power of the products are enhanced.
