Research And Application On The Workflow Management System Based On State-Transition

With the continuous development of information technology, the organizations and firms begin to pay more attention to process control and management by computer technology. But traditional process control software is always customized for a single requirement, and the business process is "hard-coded" to the software, which makes it difficult for software maintenance and upgrade.After analyzing the characters and problems of the traditional process control software, united with the actual requirement on the Integrated Network Monitor System, this paper proposes a workflow management method based on the state-transition. This method aims to realize a universal component, separates data management from process management, design from control, and applies the theories of workflow and finite-state machine. In the paper, the feasibility, the practicability and the validity of this method are argued from the point of views of requirement, technology and improvement.According to this workflow management method, this paper introduces an application-oriented workflow management system based on the state-transition. This system, which serves for the case management module of the Integrated Network Monitor System, is composed of data definition component, data management component, process definition component, and process control component. It implements a business component system proposed by the workflow management method based on the state-transition. It improves the inflexible and unscalable status to a great extent, and meets the process control requirement of the case management module in the Integrated Network Monitor System.
