With the development of Internet, Wireless network and Multimedia services, as well as the emergence of new requirements and business mode in communication field, more improvement must be done to the current network. As the future trend of communication, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is both popular in telecommunication and IT.Web Service is independent with platforms, languages and applications, using distribution technologies such as XML, SOAP and WSDL. It has more scalable capabilities and more open features than CORBA. Parlay X, based on Web Service, is specified by 3GPP and Parlay in purpose of realizing unified interface between networks and applications, and reinforcing the interoperability of functional entities.This contribution covered the realization of Parlay X interface in IMS network. The contents of this contribution are outlined here.The first part of this contribution introduced the creation and background of IMS, as well as overviewed 3G and NGN.The second part focused on the open API techniques of communication network with the beginning of the properties of Parlay X. Then, the difficulties and necessary of realizing the Parlay X interface in IMS are covered, and so are the security issues about it.
