Supporting multi-traffics is the direction in the future wireless communication networks. With the third generation mobile communication system gradually maturing, network operators and service providers are showing their enthusiasm on the enormous commercial space of multimedia traffics. There is growing interest in providing services to more terminals with high quality. It will bring many challenges and higher demands on wireless multimedia networks resource allocation and optimization. In this thesis, we investigate multimedia CDMA systems with Quality of Service (QoS) supported in order to get better system performance without any other investment. Considering different traffics characteristics and requirements, allocating bandwidth resources reasonably and efficiently, modeling multimedia networks accurately and evaluating the QoS parameters objectively, these problems have been solved in this thesis. In chapter 1, we give the research background and the signification of the study. Then, the radio resource management for CDMA system especially the multimedia QoS support in wireless networks is introduced in chapter 2. In 3rd part of the thesis, a system evaluation model for multimedia CDMA systems is proposed.Based on the existing research, a dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme is proposed for broadband CDMA networks in chapter 4. The scheme could guarantee the users' QoS requirement, while the utility of resource could be improved. In addition, two new parameters are proposed to evaluate the stream traffic actual transmission ration (ATR) and VBR traffic weighted upgrade degrade frequency (WUDF). Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the system performance and resource utility compared with the conventional schemes. In chapter 5, we first analyse the research actuality of schedulingalgorithm in the wireless packet-switch networks. Meanwhile we give a multi-traffic packet scheduling algorithm based on the bandwidth allocation algorithm proposed in chapter 4. Simulation results show that the new scheduling mechanism ensure fairness among different traffic classes while taking into account high-priority traffic class's quality. Finally, the thesis is concluded and the future work is proposed.
