Research Of Vehicle Positioning Terminal Terminator Based On ARM9 And Design Of USB Camera Driver

Along with the fastest development of computer and wireless-communication technology, portable computing technology has been widely applied in each field of our daily life. According to improvement of portable computing technology, carborne electronic device is playing a more and more important role in automobile industry.Based on the vehicles market, we designed a Vehicle Positioning Terminal with data gathering, tracking and monitoring. This Vehicle Positioning Terminal takes Samsung S3C2410 as the CPU, takes embedded Linux as the operating system;takes GPS as the localization method;takes GPRS as the wireless communication technology. Meanwhile, the whole Vehicle Positioning Terminal integrated rich and colorful periphery interfaces, such as USB, UART, Ethernet-network and so on. The GPS localization is the essential technology in this program. And my most important responsibility is developing USB drivers in Linux system. During the process of development, I have learned how to setup an Embedded System, and understood the high performance of ARM CPU, the USB protocol and the architecture of USB hardware and how to write Linux device driver.The innovations of technology and functions in this program are as follows:1. we transplanted the kernel of Linux 2.4.18 to the Vehicle Positioning Terminal;2. used GPRS wireless communication technology in the program;3. used PC camera to capture static image.The author participated in designing the scheme of the Vehicle Positioning Terminal, and was in charge of software designing and developing subsystem of image capturing and data transmission.
