The digital multimedia application is more and more popular for its high quality and high error resilient characteristics, but since digital application contains enormous data, current network bandwith can't support it. Compress must be done in order to meet the network requirements. A series of video coding standards, such as MPEG, H.264 and AVS, are generated for this reason. AVS is one of the most advanced video compress standards that are available, and it is capable of dealing with wild band, internet, and wireless mobile applications for its high compress ratio, good quality and relatively low complexity.Meanwhile, because of the fast updating of standards, DSP is wildly accepted in multimedia applications for its short exploitation period, and updatable features. This project use TI OMAP1510 platform, which include an ARM925 core, a C55 DSP core, and other peripheral equipments. This thesis works on the realization of AVS-M decoder on OMAP-1510 system, including code generation based on hardware features, code migration from PC to OMAP1510 platform, C code optimization to reach good performance, simplification of some decoding tools for fast decode speed, and realization and analysis of some error concealment tools. The structure of this paper is: the first chapter gives an overview of the history of video compress standards, and an introdution of AVS standard; the second chapter concentrates on the generic rule of migration of C code from PC to OMAP1510 platform; the third chapter concentrates on the generation of AVS-M decoder based on DSP structure; the forth chapter concentrates on the optimization of C code of AVS-M decoder; the fifth chapter concentrate on the complexity reduction of some modules to reach a faster enough decoder; the sixth chapter concentrates on realization and analysis of some error concealment tools in AVS-M decoder; and the seventh chapter gives a summarize of this thesis.
