In traditional software development, the process of software developmentis always driven by coding and low level design. According to the evolving ofproject, the model and code produced in design phase become more and moredifficult in synchronization. The code has been modified constantly with thechanges of technology and customer requirement. All those have a negativeinfluence on the software production productivity, portability, interoperability, maintaining cost and so on. The Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) haschanged this situation of software development.MDA is a new framework given by OMG based on UML, MOF, XMI,CWM, and etc, concentrating on using formal model to understand, design, operate, and evolve all aspects of enterprise systems, using softwareengineering methods and tools. MDA provides an all-around approach to thefull lifecycle integration of enterprise application. This article gives a brief introduction of the theory of softwaredevelopment based on MDA, and gives a example project to prove this theory. In chapter 2, we explain the core technique of MDA including UML,CWM, XMI, MOF, PSM, PIM and so on.In chapter 3, the paper tells the mapping system and the regular definitionlanguage. Then we discuss how to convert the model for PIM which isdesigned in the step of necessary analysis by the business man and softwaredeveloper to PSM which is automated produced in the step of system design. This is the most important process in MDA.Chapter 4 gives a concret example. The China Construction Bank's DebtAsset Management System is based on the J2EE platform. Because J2EE isbecoming a leader in realizing Component-based, Multi-tiered andWeb-centric environments System, JCP is engaged in developing the criterionof mapping the MDA to Java platform. This is including JMI (Java metadataInterface), JOLAP (Java OLAP Interface) and JDM (Java Data Mining API).In this chapter, we particularly discuss how to apply MDA development toJ2EE platform. In the following chapter 5, there is test recording about thissystem.
