Management Of Digital Media For Animation Production

Development of the Animation Industry requires to make high quality animation, meanwhile speedup the producing pace is also demanded. Skilled user of animation tools is essential for fabricating cartoon movie or serial, but animation manufacturing comprises of many trivial steps which mutual combined together conducing lower efficiency of cartoon production.This paper mainly focus on improving the effectiveness of animation production from the viewpoint of digital media management in the cartoon producing process. Multimedia database is a good solution for digital asset management and has applied in many domains such as digital library, multimedia training center, digital encyclopaedia, etc. Metadata description technique has been introduced to multimedia database since the origin of it and has been proved to be a successful approach.Animation-producing-oriented digital media management includes two basic application fields from the dynamic and static aspects due to the speciality of cartoon industry. First is the management of the intermediate products in the animation producing process such as sharing files, controlling versions, checking the products. It's an application of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) for team-based collaboration work. The other field is the archivement of animation material involving intermediate and finished product such as background photos, 3D models, texture patterns, etc. Producing period can be shorten considerable^ by reusing archived materials for serial cartoons. Adopting content-based indexing technique can fulfill producer's requirement for searching the material better than using the traditional text-based searching method.
