Multi-source imaging technique is an important and useful subject in image processing. This paper thoroughly researches in multi-source image processing techniques base on the characters of IR and visible image and do a lot of different image processing trial. The main contributions are as follows:(1) A systematic overview of multi-source Imaging theory and methods is presented. The development of Multi-source Imaging techniques is introduced, and some problems are pointed out.(2) For difference existed in the multi-source image on the side of imaging principle and imaging parameters and so on, the paper use of a idiographic instance and analyze the extract edge algorithm of IR and visible image. Then we has registered between two or more images which is gained at the different conditions such as time, sensors, shooting angle, and shooting qualifications. Finally the emulational result is presented.(3) In this paper, generalize the different and the same property between IR and visible images based on researched in its statistical characters. And the effect evaluation method of multi-source image fusion is summed up. And some effective fusion arithmetic is analysis and compared according to the instance of IR and visible images. Finally a binary discrete wavelet fusion strategy that is based on PCA (Principle Component Analysis) transform is presented. The result of experiment shows this fusion strategy has a better effect.(4) According to the results of researched into Multi-source imaging technique, the author makes use of MATLAB language and has designed and implemented a soft-simulation-platform based on Multi-source image registration and fusion arithmetic. The system is designed by modularized structure, so it has the features of clear structure, mighty function, and wider application area, being prone to be extended and maintenance.(5) Finally, the author concludes the work and analyzes some possible application of multi-source imaging technique, the same time gives out some suggestions for further research.
