Automatic gauge control(AGC) system of tandem rolling play a key role in guarantee output steel quality. The fast and high precision control of AGC system relies mainly on the configuration of detecting and control devices, selection of control algorithm and fast data exchange of communication network. To realize high precision control and fast design of AGC system, Simatic TDC platform is selected. The content of this paper contain the following part:Firstly, a brief introduction of the basic theory model and common control algorithm of AGC system is given, and the details of common AGC control method is analyzed.Afterwards, to reduce the effect of the delay brought by the placement of gauge meter, two online identification and optimizing control methods are advanced. The first one designs a new gauge setting model and combines the GM AGC and monitor AGC effectively through online identification and dynamic weighted of model parameter based on elastic and plastic theory, the uncertain of servo system is dynamic compensated using adaptive inverse control. The second one designs a sensitive function of the output steel thickness. The coefficient of the sensitive function is initially gained offline based on Hill model and adjusted online through recursive LMS algorithm using real-time data. The real-time estimate of output thickness and setting of control input is given lastly.A integrated simulation environment is built up for offline-simulation and complex function block realization based on CFC platform of TDC. So that offline simulation can be carried out without the support of hardware. A code converter is integrated into the simulation tool which could convert the source code of Simulink model created by RTW toolbox and the source code of CFC function block with FB Generator to each other. Fast building of the demand function block and simulation verification can be carried out with the aid of this tool.Finally, the structure of communication network is summarized, the software realization of common communication mode is stated in details. A high speed data acquisition and alarm archiving software based on TCP/IP communication is developed to collect real-time data of the plant for modeling and fault analysis.
