With the rapid increase of video resources and the fast development of online video websites, it becomes a important research subject to mange, search videos and understand the content of the video in a short time. The key frames contain the main information of the corresponding video, while the visualization technology is a new way to help people understand large amount of data. This paper combines the key frames and visualization, giving out a 3d visualization of key frames system to help users to learn the content of the video. Based on hierarchy used in the process of abstracting of key frames, the system constructs its own hierarchy of video content, key frames——related frames——original video. With the help of the hierarchy, the users can learn the content of video fast, as the system always provides them condensable information. The system adopts the following way of visualization, uses 3D helix with both ends open to present the key frames, 2D spiral ribbon with one end open to present JSD value, multiple-sided polygonprism to present the related frames, plane in the 3D space the present the original video. The interaction design of system is so rich that the users can manipulate the camera freely the get a best position to observe the frames, can click to choose their interested frames and filter the uninterested frames in the navigation view and can update every view at the same time to show the relationship the views. Besides the visualization of frames, the system maps the JSD value of key frames to a spiral ribbon in order to assist the user to understand and search their concerned parts of a video from an abstract perspective.
