LTE system will develop towards the trend of mobile broadband and broadband mobile. It will support high-speed mobile, satisfies various applications'requirement and realizes the all IP framework and the peak rate up to 100Mb/s even 1Gb/s combined with cellular mobile communication, fixed radio broadband access and mobile radio broadband access system. It really should satisfy anyone to communicate at any time and any where. However, as the number of users and the growing number of business types, radio resources management is facing greater challenges. In the LTE system, radio resources management functions mainly by the packet scheduling algorithms to achieve, of advanced packet scheduling algorithms are to increase the throughput of data services, to ensure fairness between users, QoS to meet the fundamental business.Firstly, this paper gives a brief overview of LTE systems, gives an account of the radio resource management and the basics of packet scheduling, including the main content of radio resource management, and LTE systems packet scheduling strategy.Secondly, this paper focuses on three classic packet scheduling algorithms in the LTE system: Maximum C/I algorithm, Round Robin algorithm and Proportional Fairness algorithm, and compared the advantages and disadvantages of each algorithm by simulation. The simulation results show that, in single service case Round Robin algorithm's fair is the best of all the scheduling algorithms, Maximum C/I algorithm's average cell throughput and average user throughput is the largest of all the algorithms, Proportional Fairness algorithm accounts for both the fairness and throughput, can be applied in practice as a classic scheduling. Finally, Proportional Fairness scheduling algorithm is improved, based on the research of above three classical scheduling algorithms and the consideration of multi-service situation. At last, this paper compares it with three kinds of classical scheduling algorithms through simulation. In order to verify algorithms'performance under the multi-service, this paper simulates in Motley-Keenan propagation model by adding the actual mobile station call, mobile, switching, process simulations, simulation path loss considered the fast decline and low decline, WWW data is used for operational and Near Real Time Video data service model. The simulation results show that, improved Proportional Fairness algorithm while ensuring the user good fairness can ensure high system throughput too.
