Nowadays with booming of the mass media, video programs play more and more important role in leisure life of college students. However they focus too much on video programs only for entertainment, the theme and content of which lead to no significance, gradually lose their goals spiritually. While the commercial video programs take no responsibility to guide the college students from a positive perspective, traditional educational TV programs in campus fail to do it, for the reasons that they choose the wrong way and channel to express the core value, and they put the knowledge learning first but neglect the emotion power of media programs. Therefore it is necessary to explore how to design a proper educational TV program for college students which can encourage them.First of all, it gives the connotation of "Encouragement" in this thesis from perspectives of concept, dimension and feature. It describes "Encouragement" as an educational process based on three dimensions---- finding of achievement goal, sustaining of achievement activities and improvement of individual mind, which influences people's emotion and cognition through some external stimulus, and which is durable, continuous and effective.Secondly, it points out that "Encouragement" affects people psychologically. It guides their value to the world, stimulates them to have high level need, helps them to find self efficiency, gives them hope and strengthens their wills, and improves their personality and capability.Thirdly, it designs a blueprint of "Educational TV Program for Encouragement on College Campus" that is framed by the principles (purpose to encourage people, guiding by the humanism, following educational communication rule), the philosophies (exploring the value of life, inspiring college students to have enterprising spirit and cultivate their ability of anti-frustration) and the elements (theme, role or plot to encourage college students).Fourthly, it summarizes four major methods commonly used for the inspirational films and TV programs to encourage people, which include shaping the appropriate role, giving positive psychological suggestions, helping the audience learning the proper attribution and impacting on the audience's emotions positively.Last but not least, it develops five steps, which designs the content, the form, the host, the channels and interaction of communication methods of such a TV program based on analyzing the audience.
