The research of information processing mechanism model and algorithm in living organisms becomes an important area in artificial intelligence. It epitomizes the modern scientific research on multi-disciplinary, cross-fusion between various fields, mutual promotion and mutual penetration characteristics. There are three main parts in biological information processing system: nerve system, immune system and endocrine system, these systems cooperate with each other to maintain stable internal environment to maintain the body's normal life activities. Researchers have proposed artificial neural network model and successfully applied to engineering fields according to the mechanism of the nervous system. Similarly, inspired by the mechanisms of the immune system, they also put forward the theory of artificial immune systems, and make successful researches. The successful applications of the former two systems prove the value of information processing mechanisms and inspire people to research other artificial intelligence models.As one of the three information processing systems, the endocrine system contains a rich and unique information processing mechanism. Constructing artificial endocrine system based on these mechanisms is a new and important field of artificial intelligence research, and it has important significance in improving and promoting the development of artificial intelligence. This paper has proposed a number of research approaches for wireless sensor networks after in-depth studying of the endocrine system on the basis of information processing mechanisms. The main research work includes the following aspects:(1)This paper explores the mechanisms of endocrine system, and summaries the functions and characteristics of the information processing mechanisms of endocrine system.(2)Based on the information delivery mechanism of hormones in endocrine system, a clustering algorithm in wireless sensor networks is proposed. Sensor nodes competition with each other, and then a set of the nodes become cluster heads, the rest are member nodes. Simulation results show that hormone-based algorithm for cluster head selection can effectively extends the lifetime of sensor networks.(3)The adjustment mechanism of hormones is introduced into coverage problem in wireless sensor networks. Experiments indicate that with the regulatory mechanism, the algorithm effective reduction of the number of active nodes while ensure effective coverage of environment.This paper deeply investigates the information processing mechanisms in endocrine system and explores their applications in wireless sensor networks. This work is also of great value and broad application prospects to similar problems in other problems.
