With the development of computer network technology, the Internet presents a high bandwidth delay product characteristic. The traditional TCP congestion control algorithm is not suitable for the existing network, and it causes the low utilization of bandwidth. So, designing a new TCP congestion control algorithm that suitable for high bandwidth delay product network becomes very important.Firstly, in this paper, the congestion control algorithms of high bandwidth delay product network study situation are introduced. The thesis categorizes the congestion control algorithms into three groups: explicit feedback based, delay-based and loss-based. Then the thesis deeply analyses and compares these algorithms, point out the relative merits of these algorithms. Secondly, the thesis proposed a solution that increase the initial window of slow start and set up a lowest congestion window to improve the performance of HTTP protocol. As the transfer inefficiency of traditional congestion control algorithm in high delay network, the thesis also proposed a new congestion control algorithm named EBIC that combine the loss and delay signal to adjust the congestion window. EBIC take the binary search increasing mechanism of BIC and combine the link delay and queue delay value to adjust the congestion window. Thirdly, the thesis details the particulars of the implementation of EBIC and HTTP acceleration strategy in Linux kernel of acceleration gateway. The thesis tests the acceleration gateway performance by the means of lab testing environment and real world testing environment. The testing result indicates acceleration gateway can effectively enhance the efficiency of visit a Web page and raise the bandwidth utilization when downloading large file. Finally, the thesis summarizes the current existing issues, and provides some further interesting directions.
