In the progress of informatization construction, each department has its own system, which is different from each other on those aspects including the type of operating system, the type of database management system and the type of data access. Those differences lead to the problem of "information isolation", which impedes the efficient use of the existed data:To make good use of these isolated data and share data with each other, this paper puts forward a strategy of data integrity based on directory service.In the strategy, it refers to the directory service as the destination for data integration, and integrates the existed heterogeneous data sources into the directory service, and provides a unified way to access these data. In response to these problems, this paper proposes a system named rdb21dap which can synchronise data between heterogeneous relational databases and the directory service.The system is designed to synchronize multiple heterogeneous relational databases to the LDAP directory service, it uses ODBC technologyin to shield the heterogeneity of the relational databases, and uses the SSL protocol to ensure data transmitted on the network securely. This system includes a client and a server, the client captures and sends the changed database records, and the server is responsible for receiving data and updating LDAP directories. The client supports two ways of capturing changed records:one is based on the change trace table, the other is based on the advanced shadow table including hash function. The former is suitable for the environment which requires capturing the changed records rapidly, and the latter is independent of the original database management system. In addition, the system takes into account the software configuration and scalability, it can be applied to different environments. So users can configure the system to achieve the purpose of data integration according to their application needs.
