Bibliography citation analysis has used to been an important measure of science study since the birth of the SCI. It is mainly used to determine the impact and level of discipline, study the distribution of information source, define the core journals, discover the law of information transmition and intelligence use, dig out the characteristics of information needs of users and evaluate the work, scholars and department. So far,it has been widely applied to the all areas of society. With the rapid development of the network, the conception of "webometrics" comes out. The main idea of webometrics is to apply the method of citation analysis in the network environment. But then the researchers found that compared with the links, web citation is more similar with bibliography, so the web citation analysis birth out. The study of web citation analysis is still in the exploratory stage, and there is no uniform concept of web citation. In order to study the relationship between the web citation analysis and the bibliography citation analysis, this paper firstly introduces the theory of bibliography citation analysis and define the web citation in this paper. Secondly this dissertation tells the differences between web citation analysis and bibliographic citation analysis in assumptions, measurement indicators, citation type, tools, etc. At last, we selected 15 journals in LIS form JCR and 497 research paper as the sample of research and use Web of science and Google scholar to get the bibliography and web citation of each paper. Then we compared the web citations and bibliography from numbers, journals, authors to discover the relationship of them.At the meantime, we study the character of web citations in language, years, domain and source to learn more about the impact of web citation analysis. In the end, we get the conclusion that Web citations analysis can be comparable to bibliographic citations, notably in assessing the academic impact of work in promotion and tenure decisions, but replacing traditional citation with the Web or Google Scholar for research impact calculations would be problematic. Using web citation analysis, We can discover the effect of different type of literature in academic exchanges and the major source of academic literature on network. Beside we can also find the level of activity of the subject and the major academic exchanges platform. The thesis is consists of 5 chapters, which are structured as follows:Chapter 1, Introduction.
