Cooperative communications have been one of the efficient methods to combat multipath fading of wireless channels and to improve wireless system capacity. Researches on cooperative communications have been focused on by academic community. The outage probabilities of the existing 2-hop relaying protocols are derived over Nakagami-m fading channel. The closed-form expressions of the outage probability for decode-and-forward relaying, selection relaying and incremental relaying protocols are derived by series expansion and Moment Generating Function (MGF). The theoretic analysis is verified by Matlab simulation.A novel relaying protocol namely Selection Incremental Relaying (SIR) is proposed, including single relaying mode and opportunistic relaying mode, the outage probabilities of the two modes are derived over Nakagami-m fading channel. The closed-form expressions of the outage probability of SIR protocol for both single and opportunistic relaying modes are derived by series expansion and MGF. The theoretic analysis is verified by Matlab simulation, and the optimal power allocation scheme is analyzed. The simulation results have shown that the proposed SIR protocol has much better performance of outage probability than the existing relaying protocols.According to Matlab simulation, the theory research and the simulation results are well matched. The main contributions of this thesis are that the derived outage probabilities expressions and these achievements can be served as productive theoretical tools for further researches and applications.
