Most current historical game character design available in the market do not follow original historicaltechnological level and decorative style, they are under the banner of history while present an integration of regional styles at different times and in different places all over the world. This kind of design is very eye-catching at first glance; however they do not have the value for in-depth study, and even may mislead player's understanding of historical figures. This article will mainly take Chu culture as historical themes, and the period for study is from 606 BC King Zhuang of Chu to 278 BC King Qin Xiang of Chu. Take the combination of game character design and real historical culture as research topic, and conclude historical and cultural elements that need to use as reference through analyzing unearthed cultural relics of Chu culture and historical document, as well as the analysis of role manifestation mode in details. Simultaneously, game characters will be created according to the requirements of current players, so that to meet their appreciation of the beauty. The purpose is to make game no longer a simple sense of play, but to naturally learn historical and cultural knowledge that usually ignored at the same time of leisure and recreation.
