Wireless communication technology is developing rapidly, portable computers and handheld computers become more and more popular. In some cases, such as rapid deployment forces on the battlefield and the promotion, disaster rescuing, all require a kind of network which do not need infrastructure in communications technology, so Ad Hoc Network come into being. Ad Hoc Network is a special form of mobile networks, which does not require a fixed base station, formed by a group of autonomous devices with a wireless transceiver for wireless nodes or terminals through mutual cooperation. Ad Hoc Network is a self-created, self-organizing and self-management network. In Ad Hoc Network, each host also must be router. At the same time, the nodes of network can move forward anywhere, resulting in unpredictable frequent changes of topology in Ad Hoc Network, so the routing protocol takes effect and need to reconstruct and timely maintenance the path of network. The routing protocol is divided into single-path routing protocol and multi-path routing protocol, and previous researches have shown that multi-path routing protocol is superior to single-path routing protocol in reducing congestion and transmission delay and improving throughput. Therefore, Load-Balancing mechanism based on Multi-path routing protocol plays an important part in Ad Hoc Network. As we know, different types of routing protocol are applied to different scenarios, with the dynamic changes of network topology. If a specific type of routing protocol has been used continuously regardless of the changes around the scenario, it may lead to the declining of throughput and packet delivery rate and increment in delay, which will affect the application of the upper. Therefore, the nodes in network can switch to the proper routing protocol adaptively based on the dynamic changes in scenarios, which plays a vital role in the improvement of network performance.Ultimately we employed OPNET to simulate the Multi-path routing protocol with Load-Balancing arithmetic and switching mechanism in routing protocols, and put forward and analyze the results of the simulation. The results show that the Load-Balancing protocol can conquer the congestion and choke-point, decrease end-to-end delay. Switching mechanism in routing protocols can increase packet delivery rate and throughput, improving routing protocol performance consequently.
