Agriculture is the foundation of national economy, food is the foundation of agriculture. China is a large country with a huge population. It is also a big agricultural country. Food security is very important to our economic security and the people's livelihood. Our food production is sufficient, but during food storage, because of changes in storage conditions, such as high temperature or humidity, microbes proliferate rapidly and food metabolic activity is speed up, so it cause mildew and degenerate of food. It is a serious threat to our food security.In order to reduce food losses during storage, we must grasp the changing situation of food parameters, such as temperature, humidity and concentrations of CO2, and take measures to ensure good food storage conditions according to the situation. Therefore, it is very important to develop grain monitoring system.Compared with wireline communication, wireless communication has advantages of low and good system scalability. Applying wireless communication technology to grain monitoring system has become the trend both at home and abroad. This paper designed a framework of wireless grain monitoring system. The measuring and controlling nodes are used to make up ZigBee Wireless Sensor Network to collect food parameters. Remote data transmission terminal Converges ZigBee food parameters and transmits the data to the host computer. The host computer displays and saves the data, it can also transmit monitoring commands to measuring and controlling nodes through Remote data transmission terminal. Based on the framework of wireless grain monitoring system, the design and implementation of wireless remote data transmission terminal based on ZigBee and GPRS is analyzed in detail in this paper. LPC2119, ZGB-LINK-212 and SIM300C are adopted to build up hardware of wireless remote data transmission terminal,μC/OS-Ⅱand C language applications are used to build up its software. It has function of food parameters uploading and monitoring commands downloading, it also has function of short message alarm. It includes efficient processing technology of ARM, reliable remote data transmission of GPRS and advantages of low cost on ZigBee. The system test results proved that the remote data transmission terminal can meet the demand of data transmission in wireless grain monitoring system, so it is suitable for application in small barns. It also offers grope for the application in the bigger barns in the future.
