Battle system is the core system of MMORPG, which goes through the whole process of game, so the battle system balance becomes an important fact of MMORPG's gameplay. In order to make the battle system good in balance and easy to verify and modify, it needs to design the structure and contents considering balance as the main idea.The level of game design now is staying in the phase of mainly considering experience, which is lack of summarize of the whole procedure. This induces to the problem of communicating between game designers and programmers, and the keeping of game balance.From early investigation of online game development and other relative technologies, according to the theory of Software Engineering and the principle of combining the real project, this article does these works:1. Make summarize of the concept of game balance, introducing the validate method, goals and affect factors. These can be use as standards of evaluating and designing the game balance.2. Take the real process of work, introducing the steps of game balance design, and exactly describe the methods of work. The products of these work include develop documents for the programmers, the data tables used by the game server, and graphics and battle simulating tools used for balance verifying and modifying.3. Design the content of battle scripts; provide the rules and usage of battle scripts. The products of these works contain document of battle system implements for programmers and battle scripts for the designers.4. Design the verifying methods of battle system, providing the reliance of verifying game balance.
