This paper attempts to apply celestial measurement system which used in celestial navigation to astronomical geodesy. Shooting star at the earth vertically (or with a certain angle) with astronomical camera which similar to the star sensor, and then make geometric pattern match between observed stars and location stars, thus determining corresponding relationship between observed stars and location stars. Finally, calculating target location according to location star's positioning information and time.In this paper, the basic concepts of geodetic astronomical measurements are discussed; and the geodetic coordinate measurements base on astrometry has been studied; according to the characteristics of astronomical geodesy, this paper also deeply analysis the structure and construction means of positioning satellite database, as well as the searching method of star pattern in star database; the star centroid extraction algorithm has been realized, through error analysis to the algorithm, a further improvement proposal of slicing bilinear interpolation and centroid window adaptive has been put forward, which its effectiveness has been proved by simulation experiments; Finally, the star pattern recognition algorithms have been studied and improvement plan and implementation have been proposed.
