Forwarding and Control Element Separation (ForCES) based router can satisfy the requirements of the Next-Generation Network very well. In order to improve the communication performance of ForCES router, this paper researches on intra-channel flow control and configuration technology.Firstly, we study on the communication model of ForCES Transport Mapping Layer (TML) and suggest several performance optimization polices by analyzing communication model, thus lay a foundation for the research of intra-channel flow control technology. Secondly, to transmit ForCES messages effectively, we propose a kind of scheduling algorithm called Rate and Buffer based Active Queue Management-Dynamic Probabilistic Priority according to the inherent features of each kind of messages. And then we advance a Prediction-based Flow Control and Configuration mechanism which can avoid the congestion that may happen because of the imbalance of flow load between ForCES channels to the greatest extent. Finally, this paper describes each module of the designed TML and experiment results show the feasibility and validity of our design.
