Analysis Of "Foreign Language Mixed With Chinese" In Chinese Broadcasting

Foreign language mixed with Chinese is a new sociolinguistic research topic in mainland China. Through a sociolinguistic study on the phenomenon of foreign language mixed with Chinese in 47 radio frequencies at eight provinces in China, the study has examined the sources and main categories of foreign language mixed with Chinese and studied their grammatical attributes and pragmatic functions. On the basis of these accurate statistic description and detailed grammatical analyses, the study also discussed the debatable question of whether foreign language is integrated with or in violation of Chinese syntax, the reasons of the mixed use of foreign language with Chinese, and examined whether current foreign language management regulations in broadcasting need amendment.First, the research proves that generally speaking, foreign languages mixed are integrated with Chinese grammar system. The original grammatical characteristics of foreign languages mixed have been converted to fit into Chinese grammar system.Second, the research has found three main reasons for foreign languages to be mixed with Chinese: simplicity in form, indispensability in usage and the public psychology of pursuing the novelty.Third, the research find that the current foreign language management regulations are not clear enough in diction, and relevant suggestions are made to improve current regulations.
