Discourse Studies On TV Talk Show Host

TV talk show is a language program. It has become the most popular style of television programs because of its specific verbal communication patterns and effects. This article is the research about radio and television stations on the language communication of television talk shows which focus on the television talk show hosts'utterance patterns and art. This passage takes in new theories on discourse analysis and integrative research methods, takes parts of conversational texts from our country's excellent TV talk shows as a demonstration, and analyzes the discourse structure about TV talk show, unscrambling emcees'discourse role. It has been specifically discussed about how the host organizes and guides the construction of the overall text and the manipulation of local turn in the conversation site.The argumentation of the full text puts forward the following research cognition: TV talk show host is the first person in charge of constructing the TV talk show text, with multiple discourse roles. He is the media spokesman, organizer and leader in the conversation field and at the same time the participant in topic exchange. In a conversation field, the host should not only locate and adhere to these three general conventional discourse roles constantly, and but also accompany the context timely to transform to assume other local discourse roles. Television talk show text has five units of discourse structure : articles, chapter, paragraphs, groups, and turn. The integrity, abstufbarkeit and the pattern of three chapters of discourse as beginning, main part and ending demonstrated by the five units of discourse are just the unique point in form of the discourse structure of TV talk show text. Turn is the most basic and important unit in TV talk show text. TV talk show conversation is the process built by the turn-taking of all the conversation participants with the guidance of the host, but also the process of completing the construction of the whole text. From the global perspective, TV talk show host should obey two mainly discourse rules in the construction of text, that is, restricting to the topic and following text structure, in order to complete the whole construction of the text from content and form. While"multidimensional integration and orderly interaction"is the core rule through the conversation of TV talk show text, and also the feature of language communication of TV talk show. Substantive turn is the Informational Turn, and also the turn for the host to express the substance of the topic, and for the host to enter into the multi-voice discourse communication as conversation participant, the public and the media and multi-party spokesperson. The host usually achieve the starting and update of the conversation topics by self-starting turn, and exert its guidance. And they usually achieve the continuance and perfection of the topic content by his words turn, to ensure the satisfaction of the topic. To make the topic communication in the conversation field start, promote, transform, deepen and perfect, the host should manipulate all kinds of turn. In order to achieve the turn alternation in the conversation field successfully, TV talk show host should make use of three conventional turn-taking patterns and other unconventional conversion patterns such as"interruption". In order to guarantee the conversation to go smoothly, the host also should implement the "discourse repair". The host's turn repair is the monitoring for self-discourse. The host prefers to choose self-repair, particularly to choose non-information repair, and all of these can show the discourse art of the host.
