With intuitionistic, convenient and abundant information characteristics reflect monitoring objects, video monitoring systems have been widely used and popularized in intelligent transportation, public security, industry and so on. Along with the development of computer technology, digital video technology and network technology, the video monitoring system is also developing. So far, network digital video monitoring system based on embedded has already stepped into the third stage of development. With the growing demand for the video monitoring system in modern society, the desire for high video quality, high transmission speed and advanced management mode is enhancing too. The video monitoring system will develop towards the direction of openness, intelligence, high-definition, civil, and wireless in future.The research group designed a set of stable, efficient and humanized video monitoring system independently, based on the great industrial technology development projects in Shanxi Province——the wireless video monitoring system. According to the various network coverage in different regions, the system choose the WiFi wireless network as effective complement to the wired network to enhance the reliability of the video signal long-distance transmission. Meanwhile, the system also added the video analysis module. When the abnormal situation appears, the system will alarm with the fastest and best way and effectively inhibit a range of issues raised by the anthropic factor. This monitoring system is an automatic, all-weather and real-time intelligent one which in the real sense realized the function of advance warning, immediate processing and timely collecting evidence.The paper mainly introduces the software design and development of wireless video monitoring system, including the implementation procedure of client software and the realization of data storage. On the one hand, wireless video monitoring system realized the most of the function by operating client software. Therefore, the design of client software is an important work for this project. The development of the client software uses Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, based on the system function requirement's analysis and followed the modular thinking. The client software includes user management, video playback, alarm queries, multi-screen display module and other modules. On the other hand, Cloud storage is applied to video monitoring system. The paper presents the cloud storage structure model for video monitoring system to deal with the large amount of vedio data. In cloud storage resources management, each storage device creates different types of databases based on different resources. SQL Server 2000 is used to realize database storage as a database management system and at the same time uses ADO data access technology to access. The paper the characteristics of the data and those databases constitute the storage systems of this project. Thus user can store, query and retrieval database through the client software.The software portion introduced in this article and the hardware portion which designed by the other researchers constitute the video monitoring system. The system has the feature of dynamic change; flexible organization for video network; powerful and adaptable.
