In the information transmission and exchange, image is an important media.Color and gray is the key factor to decide to an image expression. In the humanvisual system, color is a significant factor. Due to the sensitivity of the human eye tograyscale far less than color, we wish to change the gray image into color image toenhance the visual effect, namely the image color process.Digital image colorization is a computer-aided technology of adding color tomonochrome static images or video sequences.So far, it has been widely applied inmany fields, such as film, medical, space exploration, industry and science so on.Itis also an active challenging research topic in the image processing. This paperplaces extra emphasis on the false colorization procession, which endows staticgrayscale images with the natural and true colors.Starting with a brief overview of the current available image colorizationtechniques, we focus on the study of the algorithm of local to global expansion. Weanatomize carefully some colorization optimization methods and fast algorithms ,give the simulation experiment of a few algorithms, and test a large amount ofimages. Based on the distance and chrominance blending, I give the anotherdefinition of the intrinsic distance, which considers brightness difference as theessence distance of two adjacent pixels, raises energy to this distance, then expandsto the intrinsic distance of any two pixels. The intrinsic distance aggrandizes thechange of the image intensity, so that the boundary of the objects is obvious.
