With the social development and technological progress, there is a growing awareness that the ocean plays an important role of the development process of human society. Ocean provides a broad space and resources for human, so a certain depth and breadth development of the ocean has become a concern for all countries in the world with a large number of marine equipments, and comprehensive marine monitoring systems which all play important roles for ocean observation. For example, Earth and Oceanographic Real-time observation matrix ARGOS is a mature multi-functional marine monitoring system.Wireless sensor network which composed by cheap nodes with information perception, computation and storage capacities integrates communication technology, embedded computer technology and sensor technology. Wireless sensor networks can be deployed into the vast ocean areas to do continuous monitoring especially in poor conditions. It has a huge advantage in the field of marine monitoring. Domestic existing wireless sensor networks for marine monitoring are limited, technical confidential or difficult, and developed for specific application environments. In view of this, combined with the need of our research, we have designed and implemented a marine monitoring system based on common components technology.We have deployed a coastal ocean monitoring systems with wireless sensor network, combined the technology of wireless sensor network in the field of marine environmental monitoring. By assembling corresponding sensing parts on the sensor nodes, we have conducted a continuous long-term marine information monitoring, collection, processing and visualization. And a large amount of data has been collected, which will provide valuable experience in and after work for our multi-source information on marine monitoring, integration, data fusion, process and display.The system uses components programming methodology, which abstracts and extracts the functions of the system. Each function module is a separate component, in order to enhance the reusability and scalability of the system.The system consists of three parts, wireless sensor network, data transmission, and monitor-and-manage system. The wireless sensor network collects and delivers the light, temperature and other information of the sea. The data transmission part charges for the data transmission between the wireless sensor network and monitor-and-manage system. And the monitor-and-manage system charges for receiving, analysis, storage, processing, and displaying of the data sent via GPRS, and manages the basic operations on the data. At the same time, we have also designed and implemented a local application, which is more suitable for system administrators to quickly and efficiently manage the monitoring system.This paper introduces the requirement analysis of the system and a summary of the design at first, and then describes various sub-module design and implementation, especially the implementation of the component-based and Web-based management system, which includes data-display component, data-process component, data-access component, data-download component and data-query component. Finally, this paper shows several pages of the major implementation of the system.In the actual operation process of the wireless sensor network which monitors the sea surface, accumulating a huge amount of experience of data acquisition, processing, display and. device management will certainly provides some reference value for the establishment of comprehensive, multi-level ocean monitoring system in the future.
