Most bore tests adopt traditional observations by eyes at present and the low precision and too many errors of test results are hardly suitable to modern bore producing technique and hamper the rapid development of national defense industry. So it requires a new test method to replace the traditional method. With the development of modern technique, especially electron technology, computer application and the automatic control theory, the robot technology advances rapidly, and the application fields become more and more. This paper, based on the conclusion of traditional bore test technique and the above idea, in order to test the linearity, diameter, and the roughness of bore conveniently and exactly, decided on a new design method of bore test robot with automatic setting center ability. The robot's movement is realized through control the reaction step motor with the industry control computer which makes the robot control simple and low cost. This paper first researched the main technologies of bore test, and then analyzed the test equipment principles,selected equipment and designed the scheme. After comparing, the author chose the test equipment appropriately and put forward a better scheme, after analyzing based on the robot body structure, is designed particularly, and the two dimensions project graph is drawn using CAXA. In this paper, the principle and hardware of test system are designed and the step motor's control software is designed at the same time. The assessing methods of linearity errors are analyzed and the test methods of linearity, diameter and roughness are provided and the corresponding softwares are programmed with VB. At last, the test method of roughness without touch-light scattering is proposed. The robot is manufactured in the company with the company's advantages and the bore linearity is tested, the results are satisfied. So this robot founded stability is base for the research of more advanced test equipment.
