With the rapid development of electronic technology, computer software, hardware and network have been changed greatly. Accordingly, the telephone bank must be kept up with them.This thesis aims at designing and developing a low-cost telephone bank system for some medium- and small-scale financial organizations. The main development tools are Delphi6.0 and controls provided by Delphi and other companies.At first, the history and the development status of telephone bank are introduced. In additional, the shortcomings of earlier telephone bank are discussed. Based on these cases, a system requirement analysis and a system layout are followed which show the hardware components and the software design of the system. In hardware part, an idea that using voice modems to replace voice cards is presented. And a technical and an economical feasibility analysis for it are provided. Then the operation flow of software design is described in detail which shows the realization of the idea.Secondly, the realization of the system is described. In this part, the main database is designed and the database functions are implemented by using dynamic SQL, then speech wave coding and concatenative synthesis are introduced and main attention is paid to the design and implementation of the Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) signal detecting, speech wave concatenating and playing. Multi-thread query is designed by thread class and a simulation is realized. Sequentially, the data communication controlled by TCP/IP between the UNIX-OS bank sever and the WINDOWS-OS computer is successfully implemented by the design with the socket function and controls.Finally the advantages and disadvantages of this telephone bank system and the further work are presented.
