Virtual Surgery Simulation System is a special Virtual Reality System, which combines Virtual Reality technology and medical knowledge. It simulates the process of surgery, and provides an efficient method different from traditional methods to train surgeons. Soft-tissue cutting is one of the most important issues in Virtual Surgery Simulation System, reality and real-time are the key factors in modeling cutting.In this paper, we study two kind of cutting algorithms. Firstly, we use a cutting algorithm to simulate soft-tissue cutting which removes all collided element from the model, and smoothes the incision by moving the vertexes nearby the incision. This algorithm is simple, and is easy to implement. It can easily meet the need of the system for speed, but it is not useful in some models. Secondly, we use another cutting algorithm to simulate cutting which subdivides the tetrahedrons nearby the incision. This algorithm can easily meet the need of the system for speed, and can get well visual result. It is useful in most models.In this paper, we implement the subdivision cutting algorithm in our Virtual Surgery Simulation System. We build haptic models in this system by GHOST SDK, and can get wellcutting result.
