There is a long time since bronze ware's copy appeared, and the technologies are of traditional and relatively old-fashioned with small scale of production. Up to now, the ways of bronze ware's copy such as handcraft, piece-production or small production scale are still used, though they have been influenced by modern technologies like computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM), etc. The market of bronze ware today is full of manmade products.Rapid Prototyping Technology (RPT) is an advanced manufacturing method. We can use it to make any type of products in a short time. Recently, this technology has been imported in China and mainly used in the field of aviation, automobile, medical apparatus and instruments, etc. Along with the popularization of informational and numeral mode of production, we can apply RPT to the bronze ware's copy. This will give us a new way of protecting and developing bronze artworks copy.This paper aims to set up a bridge connecting traditional lost wax process with modern numerical technology like RPT, to realize numeral rehab and copy of "Jin-Sha-Tong-Li-Ren" bronze ware based on RPT, to amalgamate modern technologies with venerable arts, and to try to bring out a new way for protecting and developing of bronze ware. The main results are as follows:1. Based on PC hardware configuration and Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows XP system software, the Pro/E 2001 can meet the need of the bronze artwork's numeral modeling and rehab.2. Based on culture, shape trend and character of "Jin-Sha-Tong-Li-Ren" bronze ware, the deformity of this artwork was numerally rehabbed.3. On the basis of the shape character, in order to make good use of 3D modeling theory, "Jin-Sha-Tong-Li-Ren" bronze ware was copied through disassembling the tissue of the artwork. The processes are as follows: First, construct main characters. Second, construct assistant characters, and third, add extra characters. Meanwhile, modeling programme of every tissue should be decided. And then, according to the idea of "point-*curve-*surface—solid", the increased ISDX module of Pro/E 2001 was used to complete numeral copy of this bronze artwork.4 . Parameters of the STL date file was analysed and data of "Jin-Sha-Tong-Li-Ren" numeral modeling was changed to STL format which can be accepted by rapid prototyping machine accurately.5. The SL method and LPS250 laser rapid prototyping machine were decided, and data handling such as direction selection, slice, brace, etc. was carried out by the date preprocessing software of LPS4.2 version. Lastly, the machine's LPS process-control system was used to set all the processing parameters and then the rapid prototyping product of "Jin-Sha-Tong-Li-Ren" bronze ware was successfully completed.6. By comparing several special casting processes, the lost wax process which is fit to the artwork copy was chosen. Then, the casting project was constructed and the copying procedures were carried out as follows: facturing of silica gel mould, making of wax mould, assembling of clusters, preparing of shell and pouring of bronze melt, etc. After the solidification and the clearing of this bronze casting, special surface treatment was done in order to decorate "Jin-Sha-Tong-Li-Ren" bronze ware.7. The study of numeral rehab and copy of "Jin-Sha-Tong-Li-Ren" bronze ware is significant. It will assist us with further research, protection and development of bronze ware founded in Jin-Sha archaeological site.
