The peculiarity of Op-Ed has drawn a good deal of attention, both journalistic and rhetorical. China's international communication has made considerable progress, but we are still in the public opinion environment that is dominated by the western world. In western society, the ordinary people do not notice the existence of Chinese international communication. On the international stage, China seems voiceless. The voicelessness is quite out of place with China's role in the world.Through a comparative study of the opinion pages in China Daily and New York Times from a rhetorical point of view, the present thesis tries to find out the main distinguishing features of opinion pages in the West, and to propose some measures to be taken to improve the effects of opinion pages in China Daily as well as China's international communication.
