Ad hoc is a new wireless communication technology. An ad hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile nodes dynamically forming a temporary network without the use of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. Mobile nodes in ad hoc network communicate with each other using multi-hop wireless links. The MAC protocol, network capacity and power saving are challeges ad hoc network faced in this day.In this paper, we do the following work to solve the difficulties above.First, we work on the MAC protocol and power saving in ad hoc. We learned 4 power control protocols that have been presented, and analyzed every protocol's characters. We learned much from these power control protocols.Second, we present a self-adaptive power control protocol which works with double channles. This protocol can solve the hidden-terminal and exposed-terminal problems in the single channel protocols. With this self-adaptive power control protocol, the message collision could be efficiently avoided and the network capacity could be increased.
