A study of the plotter and the traditional grating duplication method shows that grating by the traditional grating duplication method does not have a sufficient length to meet the requirement of the large-format plotter in location, in view of which this paper proposes the idea of piecewise exposure and successive duplication to obtain arbitrary length and width and thus meet the requirement of the large-format color inkjet plotter and other machines in location.This paper puts emphasis on the structure, control scheme and design of the system's software and hardware. The progression of film is precisely located through the direct current PWM servo driver and location feedback. The methods of PID control and speeding & slowing are employed. To further simplify the circuit and improve the system's reliability, the CPLD device EPM9320LC84-15 by Altera Co. is adopted to achieve some functions. This system has the advantages of simple structure, easy testing, low cost and good stability.No manufacturer in China has yet produced bar penetrating grating of this kind. This paper is, therefore, of practical value in the promotion of China's high quality plotting technique and particularly in the autonomous industrialization and it can serve as a reference.
