Research On Appraisal Method Of Digital TV Picture Quality

The appraisal method of digital TV picture quality consists of subjective method and objective measuring method. Becausc digital technique was applied to broadcast and television system very fast, standard appraisal method has not been put forward yet. What method of appraising digital TV picture quality to be adopted is the researchful hotspot of TV technique now.First, we research video compression coding technique and digital transmission theory emphasizing on analyzing the eflect on TV picture quality.Second, based on above theory, we analyze three methods representative of current subjective appraisal method, and draw their excellences to put forward double stimulate 11 levels quality score subjective appraisal method. The result of experiment indicates that this method with many excellences is very good.In practical work, because of using objective measuring method easily, engineers usually enjoy using them instead of subjective method. We put forward an objective measuring method with PQA200 and apply it to measure digital TV picture quality. The result of experiment indicates that this method adapts not only to universal measuring TV picture quality but also to analyzing the quality of video coding and is very applied .According to the practice of Hunan broadcast & television satellite earth station, we put forward a series of measuring methods for TV picture quality . The kernel of them is the PQA200 objective method, others including some measuring methods of digital transmission system. Practice indicates the series of methods are very useful ,and accepted by experts.
