In this paper some subjects of the visualization of calculation of water wave and tidal current are studied, such as pre-and-post process of data, grid generation, graphic user interface (GUI), and so on. The computational methods have been applied in the hydrodynamic numerical models which had been developed by the group of Computational Fluid Dynamics of Tianjin University (TJUCFD).Firstly, the hydrodynamic numerical models that had been developed by TJUCFD are introduced as the background of the work of this paper. In this paper a numerical technology is developed to generate boundary fitted conformal mesh. The quality of the numerical grid is verified by applying it in Mild-slope Equation. An interpolation method is developed to generate the topographic data at the nodes of unstructured grid. In order to improve the efficiency of the method, a background grid being composed of rectangular elements is introduced. The software for generating topographic data is improved by introduced a graphic user interface and a model for calculating the workload in coastal engineering.The post process of the calculation of water wave and tidal current is studied. A method for calculating the position of the particles in tidal field is developed. This method is optimized by using the limit-of-stability in hydrodynamic model to improve its efficiency in unstructured grid. The visualization of the computational results of water wave is realized by using Visual C++ and OpenGL, and satisfied result is obtained.
