The technology of Multiprotocol Label Switching is being developed and spread by IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force) that is acted as telecom industrial standardization organization of IP networks. Three applications accommodated in the technology of MPLS are Internet Traffic Engineering ,Quality of Service and VPN. One of the applications of MPLS ,in RFC2702,is defined as realizing Internet Traffic Engineering. Therefore it is required that the algorithm of constrained shortest path first be employed .The study on CSPF isof great theoretical value and in practical significance.Firstly essential conceptions on MPLS and MPLS Traffic Engineering in MPLS are briefly presented in this paper. Secondly traditional IP routing and constraint based routing are researched. Then profound research is made on the algorithm of CSPF based different constraints,and a study on the performance of four representative algorithms is made on different network scales in the application of OPNET.With that the comparison among four algorithms is made in performanceAt last the algorithm of finding shortest delay path satisfying the requirement of bandwidth is simulated by OPNET in the application background of some martial communication network ,and the result is satisfying. With this understanding, the correctness,rationality,merit and demerit in the algorithm are all discussed.
