The fundamental theoretic frame of computer vision technology has been formed with the development of many years. With the development of computer, computer vision technology has been used more and more widely in all kinds of applied fields. The thesis is brought forward with the development of experiment technology hi ship model tank of Dalian university of technology. The demands to acquire and process dynamically and get the motion parameters of objects become more and more higher. Traditional means cannot meet the especial experiments. It's difficult to calculate six degree of freedom motion parameters of ship model hi three dimensions. At present it is mainly dependent on the obliquity sensor, spinning top and vertical sensor. The technique has a serious shortage, which disturbs the motion of ship model. In order to resolve this contradiction, the thesis comes up with new way that bases on computer vision and studies systematically the technique feature of real-time measurement system of parameters of motion objects.The system is made up of microcomputer that is core component, OK_MC30 image acquisition card used to acquire image, two CCD cameras and software that has enough functions, and it's easy to operate it. The system has the advantage of high accuracy, non-contract and high efficiency.The thesis makes a whole summary of computer vision and its basic theoretic frame and builds a binocular camera model; presents the camera calibration method, experiment results show that this calibration method is valid and has a reasonable precision; researches the parallel execution which two cards acquire and process image at the same time, using callback function to deal with the relation of input video frequency, acquisition time and processing time; use median filtering to decrease the influence of environment light and exposure grade to image quality; calculates the two dimension image coordinates of characteristic points accurately; calculates the 3D coordinates with image matching method in binocular computer vision theory; at last processes the datum and calculates the motion parameters of ship model.The system is completed with the help of the computer. Based on the principle of computer vision and image processing, a set of software is exploited. At the same time, the experiments are done hi ship model tank. From the experiments results, it is promising to apply the technique based on computer vision in ship field.
