| HIS had been rapidly developing in recent years.In 2002,There are 400 hospitals which had integrated HIS in china,including 200 hospitals in army. There was much data in HIS now. With the advancing of reformation and opening,the competition of medical market became drastic gradually.lt is more important in collecting and analyzing information. Now they usually analyze the short-term data and they do not apply software about data mining to analyze long-term data or discover connotative information in most hostpitals. Conductors did not make the decision relying on these data,so the decision-making was always partial.The capacity of hospital competition fell. Conductors hope there is a integrated DSS,which can optimize hospital resource and decrease cost of consume.On the other hand,doctors had diagnosed and treated lots of patients,so there was much information about diagnosing and treating in database,but it is very difficult to get some information from the database.So doctor hope there is a simple and quickly querying system of information.How to obtain the information of database?It is impossible for HIS to play two roles,OLAP and OLTP ,from computer function now.On the other hand, OLAP and OLTP are very different,so the OLTP system can not play the role to analyze data.Technology of data warehouse provide the organization with an integrated, consistent and subject-oriented view of its data that could thenbe used to collect all kinds of data and perform various of analysis,which OLTP could not perform. Data warehouse is a subject-oriented, integrated, time-variant and nonvolatile collection of data in support of management's decision-making process.This study is to investigate how to apply technology of Oracle data warehouse to construct hospital information statistic resource database,which can provide much information to help making decision,diagnosing and treating, and which does not affect the speed of hospital OLTP system running.The data of this study came from a hospital data of "No. 1 Project of Military" system database including table PAT_MASTER_INDEX,PAT_ VISIT,DIAGN0SIS,CLINIC_DIAGN0SIS,DIAGN0STIC_CATEG0RY,0 PERATION,DIAG_COMPARING,MEDICAL_COSTS,EXAM_MASTER,L AB_TEST_MASTER,INP_BILL_DETAIL,OPERATION_MASTER,OPER ATION_NAME,OUTP_PRESC_MASTER,OUTP_PRESC_DETAIL,OUTP _ORDER_DESC, OUTP_BILL_ITEMS, DEPTDICT and DIAGNOSIS_ DICT. The software and hardware include PC system(Microsoft Windows 2000,Service Pack3, CPU 1.70GHz, 359,920 KB RAM) Oracle 9.2.0.1.0, Oracle9i Discoverer and Power Builder9.0 Methods:a.Learning the framework and data of "No. 1 Project of Military" system database and analyzing hospital information requirement.b.Selecting technology of Oracle data warehouse to construct it.c.Designing model.the data warehouse model was designed star schema.According to inclusive data in database and hospital information requirement,we designed the data warehouse including 8 facts and 4 dimensions.8 facts are CLINIC_MASTER,DIAGNOSIS,EXAM_MASTER, MEDICAL_COST,LAB_TEST_MASTER,OUTP_BILL_ITEM, OPERATION and PPAT_VISIT.4 Dimensions are PATIENTS,STAFFS, CATEGORYS and TIMES.d.Constructing data warehouse.The process of constructing datawarehouse had four steps. (1) setting environment.setting up Oracle9i database system and applying Database Configuration Assistant to construct database. (2) Loading and transforming data.Applying database development software Power Builder9.0 to transmit data to data warehouse from "No. 1 Project of Military"system. According to designment,uniting table,adding or deleting columns.(3)Constructing Dimensions and defining Facts and Dimensions.
