Fixture plays an important role in machine manufacturing. Modular fixture is developed on the base of the standardization, specification and systemization of the fixture. The application of the modular fixture can saving the develop time and materials, reduce the preparation cycle for development, and guarantee the quality of the product. The emergence of the Computer-Aided Fixture Design system makes it possible to assemble the modular fixture virtually, and have a higher speed than assemble manually, also it can increase the productivity and decrease the labor intensity.The software architecture is a bridge between the software requirement and software design, and it stresses the solution of the problem of how to translate smoothly from software architecture and requirement to the software realization. With the increasing of the complexity of the software, the description and design of the whole system become more and more important. UML (Unified Modeling Language) is a way to explain, visualize and make documents for the products, which developed with OOP (Object Oriented Programming). UML have many merits of OOP. We can describe the software architecture more clearly with them.The main work may be summarized as follows:(1) Because the enrichment of the functions of the CAFD system, this paper proposes design the intelligent modular fixture assembly system thoroughly based on the software architecture, in duce to make the system's structure more clearly, and make the relations between functions become manifest.(2) This paper introduces how to analysis and design the intelligent modular fixture assembly system based on the software architecture and use UML as the modeling tool.(3) This system realizes the interaction between users and the intelligent modular fixture assembly system though the interface structured with VC++, and also develops the significant functions of this system with the ObjectARX technique.
