In his dissertion,ultra-short optical pulse generation as well as supercontinuumsourse are studied experimentally and theoretically, which include:1. Nonlinear polarization rotation passively mode-locked fiber laser 1) The physical mechanism of nonlinear polarization rotation passively mode-locked fiber laser and the uniformity of pulse series in an loop fiber laser are studied. 2) Stable, self-starting 1.5ps mode-locked pulse at 13.9MHz repetition rate is obtained, the average output power is 0.313mW ,the center of the wavelength is 1562.3nm. The outpout pulse is compressed to 750fs and divited high-order soliton was observed.2. Supercontinuum(SC) pulse sourse 1) The theory of SC generation which is produced by nonlinear ofects and group velocity dispersion(GVD) is proposed 2) Over 510nm of SC spectrum at 20dB and 150nm at ±0.25dB super uniformity SC spectrum are generated for the first time 3) The influences of nonlinear effects of fiber, fiber parameters and pump pulse parameters on SC spectrum are studied numerically3. Actively & passively mode-locked fiber laser 1) Swithching characteristics of nonlinear optical loop mirror(NOLM), nonlinear optical amplifier loop mirror(NALM)and dispersion-imbalanec NOLM are investigated numrically in detail. 2) 11ps stable 10GHz mode-locked pulse train and 20GHz, 30GHz harmonic mode-locke pulse with uniform amplitude are obtained with the figure-eight structrue DI-NOLM.
