With the developments of embedded technology and popularization of theInternet, embedded internet technology has become a new focus in the research ofembedded system which is the most expeditious new technology. Most works havebeen done on the implement of embedded internet technology. However, little workhas so far been done on developing systematic design methods or guidelines for thedesign of such embedded internet control system (EICS). Unfortunately, the designmethodologies used for computer-based control systems are not appropriate for EICS,as the do not consider the embedded internet environment issues. This paper aims todevelop a methodology for the design of EICS and seven essential issues that arisefrom embedded-internet-related features of the EICS have been investigated, whichare requirement specification, architecture selection, the implement of embeddedinternet unit (EIU), the human-machine interface design, the delay of internet-related,concurrent user access and system safety checking. At the same time, the author erected a kind of EICS, the stresses of which are thesystem safety checking and the implement of EIU. In the design of this system, theauthor adopted the method of adding two kind of physical redundancies to ensure thesecurity and integrality of the system: 1,two network (wireless internet andtwisted-pair Ethernet) redundancies; 2,the mechanism of two computers hot-backupredundancies. The DS80C400 MCU was selected to be the processor of EIU thatrealized the CAN bus,485 bus,232 serial bus and Ethernet interface. In addition, theunit can be remote programmed,debugged and configuration which greatly promotethe flexibility of the whole system. At the end of this paper, the author realized the EICS in the elevator remotemonitor system (REMS), which improved the flexibility and stability of the systemgreatly, reduced the implement cost of REMS, accelerated the widely application ofREMS.
