Today distributed applications have been the new trend in computer industry, and the Object-oriented technology has been playing the main role in software industry. CORBA, the combination of the two, accordingly has been paid more and more attention. Research on CORBA is now changing from its architecture and inner character to its application. In this thesis, the author firstly introduces OMG's Object Management Architecture and the CORBA3.0 specification, which focus on Object Request Broker(ORB), Interface Definition Language(IDL), and Object Adapter(especially POA). The author also makes a comparison between CORBA and other popular distributed object models or techniques. After analyzing the defects of now day's Web model, the author then introduces a new object Web model based on CORBA and Java, which is becoming more popular in some kinds of Internet applications. It will be used in the application of the thesis. An analyse of some importanttechniques about this model and the application mentioned next such as CORBA Message and security is provided. A new specification of Real-Time CORBA is also described in this part. Then the author introduces the Financial Self-Service System and analyzes the deficiency of those systems now being used. On the basis of the research for this paper and the system the author developed before, he achieves a model of Financial Self-Service System base on CORB A/Web, and gives out the system structure design. Meanwhile, the paper provides a brief introduce of VisiBroker and how to design the application with it. Also, some parts of CORBA object IDL design are listed. Finally the peculiarities of the Financial Self-Service System based on CORBAAVeb are given. This thesis gives reference for studying CORBA and distributed objects application as well as developing a similar system.
