Grid Computing is a hot topic in High Performance Computing among mainstream computing technologies in the transition of .Computing technologies from Cluster to Grid. This paper lays particular emphasis on introducing the connotation, architecture and applications of Grid, then puts forward issues of Grid Computing which are in direct need and inevitable in realizing special industries.Aiming at the special requirements in coal industry, a tentative plan of Colliery Safety Grid is put forward in the paper, then relevant research is performed. This paper studied the parallel processing mode of mine ventilation calculation from the aspects such as data storage and management, system application pattern and so on in an effort to introduce this new processing technology to colliery assisted by technology and market promotion. In addition, a set of interrelated mine computing and visualization software component in mine safety and data management are developed to realize the transition of integrated. Application towards Grid Computing progressively.The paper's research is a first-stage study on the application of Grid Computing to coal industry, even though such study will take part in the construction of new technologies in mine safety and management efficiently. Research of parallel mode on coal ventilation computing will find new ways of application in other industries.
