Enterprise Portal (EP) is an approach to access enterprise applications and information integratively and the important foundation to establish information platform for enterprises,it reflects the uniform artchitecture of application middle ware at presentation level.EP is now leading the way of developing information platforms for many large enterprises, which includes the implementation of single point access, Single Sign-On (SSO) and uniform authentication, integration of enterprise information sources and application sources by application aggregation, separating applications into portal application channel(Portlet), configuration of personalization and management of access policies and representation policies. In the process of building information systems for enterprises, Web Services based on XML is talent showing itself in the throng of information technologies. Web Services can be used to develop loose coupling systems and service components in the environment of Internet/Intranet, implement the framework of cooperation interoperation between enterprises and organizations, and surly the desirable technical platform for EP.This paper firstly introduces the basic concepts and framework of EP, describes the major content of every component clearly. Then we studies XML and Web Services pertinently, analyzing the supporting ability to EP and working principle of building blocks in Web Services.Based on the author's vast experience of developing applications for telecom service industry, this paper provides the EP model(WS-Based EP) based on XML and Web Services according the above research work, which reflects the practical requirements and main problems in EP systems, digs the advantages of XML and Web Services, with good extendability, interoperability, security and feasibility.WS-Based EP model includes SSO and application aggregation sub systems etc. SSO sub system resolves the secure access and security integration of multiple joint equipments, security integration of legacy systems and uniform management of user information and security policies. Application aggregation sub system implements the integration of data, message and business process by message engine, message bus and message flow. In the end, we combine the model and practical requirements of telecom industrial EP, providing the implementation scheme in detail.
