Taking upon itself the duty of explaining and enlightening , in-depth reporting has drawn a lot of attention and has won the public's recognition. It has increasingly become an indispensable form of reporting .However, the research reporting it has not produced a theory system whereby it needs our farther explorations.After the review of the history of in-depth reporting both in china and in foreign countrys, the thesis analyzed the cognitions' change of the journalist by analyzing the change of subject matters in the time of the eighty, the time of the ninety and the new century in china. The cognition of the journalists are getting comprehensive, developmental, different from unilateral, static and same .This is the result of the development of our society and the change of requirement of audiences. Of course , it is the require of the news' regular. At the same time, the kind of change of cognition promotes the development of the field of in-depth reporting, it forms positive cycle.After nearly twenty years of the concrete research, considerable development has taken place both in the form and in the contents of reporting in our country. But, we can not deny there are lacks both in the theme's selection of the in-depth reporting and in the excavation of events. We should upgrade the journalists' abilities, therefore, my theme gives advices about how to improve the in-depth reporting based on the changes of in-depth material and the expansion of journalists' cognition. A theoretical research into the change of expansion of journalists' cognition carries with it the role of theoretical guidance.
