Learning approach here means students'basic behavior and cognitive tropism demonstrated in their process of finishing learning tasks. It represents the types and ways of learning activities the learners select in their process of learning that have impacts on the learning content, including learning behaviors, learning strategies, learning tendencies and many other factors. The main aims of new curriculum innovation is to transform the learning style of students, which meet both the requirement of education and adaptation to the development of knowledge, and even for the long-life learning demand of students. Therefore, how to grasp the pulse of learning style in middle school chemistry teaching is critical to transfer the learning style of students.This research, directed by the sprint of the New Curriculum and theories on learning approach, the meanings, categories and characteristics etc. of study style, and taking the Dazhou middle school students as object, has investigated and analyzed the importance chemistry curriculum by the use of questionnaires developed by the researcher to survey middle school students'learning approaches of chemistry in accordance with the characteristics of chemistry subject and interview in eight middle school. By the survey, we found that most of students in dazhou still using the surface study styles and found that there are differences in the learning initiative and inquiry of chemistry among different grades of students, and that there are obvious differences between different sexes. However, chemistry performance is closely related to learning approaches of chemistry. Finally, in allusion to problems found in the above analysis, the researcher offered some measures to solve those and hope to provide the basic knowledge to push the New Curriculum innovation.
