With the advance of China's curriculum reform, the high schools in Jilin province start to use the high school history compulsory textbooks of PEP edition since 2007. The author of this paper analyze the guiding ideas, principles, structure and content of compilation, by the comparison and contrast with other three editions, with the hope of making teaching plans for the practical requirements of history teaching and to improve teaching efficiency. The whole essay is composed of four parts. The first part is the analysis of the relationship between the textbooks of PEP edition and curriculum standards, including the requirement of curriculum standards and the undertaking of the textbooks of PEP edition. The second part is the discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of new textbooks of PEP edition. The third part is the research of the feedback of the textbooks of PEP edition during the teaching practice. The fourth part is about the practical effect of the high school history compulsory textbooks of PEP edition.First, analyze the relationship between the textbooks of PEP edition and curriculum standards. Curriculum standards are the aim and basis of high school teaching, and the compilation standards of different editions. Standards decide the direction of new textbooks; the compilation of new textbooks is the effective medium of standards. What's more, history textbooks help one to build one's basic history knowledge. They are also the link between history curriculum standards and teaching.Second, understand the advantages and disadvantages of new textbooks of PEP edition can help teachers get familiar with new textbooks and make better use of them, in order to maximize the efficiency of teaching with the basic ideas of new curriculum reform and the specific conditions of students.Third, know about the views of students, teachers and students'parents on the new textbooks. In classroom teaching activities, history teachers should not only get students to grasp knowledge, but also pay attention to their mental and living conditions and adjust teaching methods to improve their thinking abilities.Forth, pay attention to the practical effect of the high school history compulsory textbooks of PEP edition with teaching practice. According to the understanding and memory of basic history knowledge, reorganize history-teaching system by asking questions or by comparison and contrast.
